I turned around and locked the door. My bag was already packed from this morning, clothes and other travel items, as well as some of my notebooks and pencils and all the cash I could scrap up- including sixty-seven stolen dollars of my mother's.
"Honey, come down, it's time for you to go!" Mom called from downstairs in the living room. I froze. I wasn't going with her. I had to get out now. Right now.
I looked around. There was only one way out besides the door- the second story window. I sighed. The window was locked from the outside, always had been. I pushed aside the furniture, stood back a bit, and then launched a kick through the window. The glass shattered all over, but I was unharmed. I examined my shoe, and it was fine even after busting the window.
My mom screeched from downstairs and I heard her start running upstairs. I made sure my door was locked and then shoved the bookshelf in front of it roughly. Then I grabbed my suitcase and turned back to the window. It seemed to have completely broken, only a few shards remained intact. I poked my head out and looked at the ground below. I tossed my bag out the window at watched it drop to the ground safely. Then I jumped up on the window sill, my feet dangling beneath me- red shoe laces on my converses swinging in the wind. Then I looked bak down at the ground, two stories below.
My mom was banging on the door behind me. My bag was laying, undamaged, on the ground. I could see Kayla and her sisters from here, riding their bikes farther down the street, but they didn't see me.
The breeze whipped around me suddenly, and my hair swirled around me. I had to get out now. Jump!
I closed my eyes and shoved myself off the edge and into the air. For a few seconds I was flying down, spiraling with grace. Then I hit the ground with a thud.
At first I didn't move. Then I opened my eyes. I was crouched in a ball on the concrete of the driveway, both feet set squarely on the ground. I was fine, nothing hurt. I sprung up into a standing position, then I grabbed my bag and slung it over my shoulder and turned to look at my house. My mom had managed to get into my room, and was standing at my window, mouth open.
I smiled and winked, then took off running down the street.
Okay, this is a story I've been working on that I've been pretty serious about. I may or may not post more, considering as I'm hoping to get it published some day. I've written a lot of it, over fifty pages (though not all in sequence,) and I'm hoping to have the rough draft AT LEAST finished by the end of this year. :) Enjoy!

Wow, this is great! Not only the story-line and the suspense, but the writing itself -- you've greatly improved. Congratulations!!
And I'd like to see more of this, but I understand your reluctance to post it, so I won't whine about that. c:
